How to do Backflush Process for Group Head

One of the most important cleaning processes for espresso machines is the backflush process, which is done as follows:

  1. Insert the empty basket into the portafilter with a cleaner specifically designed for espresso machines
  2. Insert the portafilter into the machine
  3. Depending on the type of group head in the machine, press the extraction button or raise the extraction lever for ten seconds. Then turn it off for ten seconds and repeat this process ten times
  4. Remove the portafilter and let the water run for a few seconds
  5. Make sure to place a container under the coffee outlet to collect the cleaning solution
  6. Remove the empty basket and install the basket used for extraction
  7. Perform a natural extraction process and dispose of the espresso to ensure that the cleaning solution residue is removed

Now the machine is ready to make awesome espresso cups again! We recommend doing these steps every week or two if used daily, and don't forget to clean the external parts with a wet towel to keep the machine clean.
