Instillation and Use
The installation process for the ARO Espresso™ Grinder Setting Dial and Adjustment Knob is straightforward and non-invasive, ensuring your grinder remains unharmed, and you retain the flexibility to remove the dial at any time. Follow these simple steps for a hassle-free setup:
- Start by removing and emptying the hopper from your grinder. Loosen the screw on the back of the grinder inlet without fully removing it.
- Clean any residual grounds from the grinder inlet and the top of the machine.
- Unscrew the stock adjustment knob by turning it counterclockwise until it unscrews completely from the machine.
- Twist on the new grind adjustment knob and tighten it until you feel resistance as it bottoms out.
- Locate the 'zero' point on the grinder by turning on the machine and slowly adjusting the knob towards the FINE setting. When the burrs make initial contact and begin to "chatter," stop tightening the dial and back it off slightly. This becomes your 'zero' point.
- Align the '0' on the dial with the arrow by rotating the gear with the numbers.
- Place the dial over the grinder inlet with the arrow facing you and press it down until it contacts the top of the machine.
- Reinsert the hopper back into the grinder inlet on top of the machine.
- Tilt the back of the dial upwards to secure the hopper. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to tighten the screw visible for hopper installation.
- Press the dial back onto the machine's top.
For finding the zero-point without the grinder on, unplug it and manually spin the burrs as you tighten the knob until you feel resistance.
For optimal results, consider these initial grind setting ranges:
- Espresso: 5-15
- Drip/Pour-Over: 40-60
- French Press: 70-90
Adjust these settings based on variables like grinder model, bean type, and bean age to achieve your desired coffee flavor profile.
